Vision & History

Classic City Community Church began in September 2007, as a Sunday night Bible Study with 8 people. By the end of the year, a team of 30 people had gathered to build a church that would impact Athens with the love and power of Christ.

Classic City held its first service on January 13, 2008, at Alps Road Elementary School. Within a year, the cafeteria had filled to capacity. In July 2009, the church moved its Sunday service to the historic Morton Theatre in downtown Athens. Two months later, the theatre was packed with up to 500 people attending Sunday services.

In August 2010, Classic City began holding its Sunday worship services at Clarke Central High School's Mell auditorium. The facility had 200 more seats, plenty of room for family ministries, and other specialized gatherings.

John Stott wrote of Jesus, "There has never been anyone like Him. There never has been. There never will be." The vision of CCCC is to honor His unparalleled greatness. This ideal becomes a reality, when we grow spiritually, enabling us to live authentically, and to participate in His purposes.
